WILTON, CT — A Danbury man is facing charges after Wilton police say he was driving under the influence on May 3, prompting a traffic stop on Danbury Road. Officers observed the red pickup truck weaving within its lane and encroaching into adjacent traffic. The driver, identified as 30-year-old Christian Jesus Ayavaca Ayabaca, told police he had consumed a couple of beers earlier that day. He did not pass field sobriety tests and refused chemical testing after being transported to Wilton Police Headquarters. In Connecticut, the legal blood alcohol content limit for driving is 0.08 percent for those 21 and older. He was released after posting a portion of a $300 bond and is due in Stamford Superior Court on May 13.
On May 2, Wilton police say 24-year-old Nyasia Ross of Danbury turned herself in at police headquarters on a warrant tied to a 2021 motor vehicle stop. Ross was charged with failure to respond to an infraction and released after posting bond. She is expected to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 15.
Separately, police report that Marc-Anthony Chibueze Opurum, 34, of Wylie, Texas, turned himself in on April 28 following an investigation into a fraudulent scheme in which victims received emails claiming to be from Wilton’s Planning and Zoning Department requesting payment of fictitious application fees. Police said Opurum was seen on surveillance opening a bank account used in the scam. He was released on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 9.
