$4,100 Worth of Landscaping Equipment Stolen
9/16: Police reports say that “sometime during the overnight hours” from 5:30 p.m. on 9/15/and 7:00 a.m. on 9/16/, $4,100 worth of landscaping equipment was stolen from the “back of a locked truck parked at Glen Gate storage lot.” Police said that the missing items included three backpack blowers, a weed whacker, a grass catcher for a mower, and about $1,500 worth of miscellaneous tools.
Warrant Leads to Arrest in Larceny

9/16: A 23-year-old man, identified as Ryan Melahn, of Ridgfield, turned himself in on a warrant for two counts of sixth degree larceny, according to reports. Police said that they had received a complaint that the accused may have stolen $300-$500 worth of coins, and about $150 worth of scrap metal from a retail store. Police said they confronted Melahn with “evidence obtained at the scene” and that the accused gave a confession. Melahn is being held on a $2,500 bond.
Man Throws Flower Pot at Van

9/13: A 53-year-old man allegedly threw a flower pot at another man’s van while the person was still in the van, according to reports. Police said Michael Damato, of Wilton, “was yelling and screaming on the front lawn of the home,” and that the complainant was the person in the van. Police charged Damato with disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal mischief; he was issued a promise to appear in court.
Wallet, Checks Stolen from Residence
9/16: A residence on Millstone Road had two wallets and “a number of blank personal checks” stolen from it, according to police reports. The wallets contained money, credit cards and personal information. Police are investigating the incident
Domestic at Avalon Springs
9/17: Police responded to a domestic disturbance at the Avalon Springs apartment complex, where they conducted an investigation, according to police reports. Police arrested John Mcauly, 63, for disorderly conduct, strangulation in the third degree and assault in the third degree, according to reports. Police said the victim, age 42, had some scratch marks on her, but was not reported to be injured. The accused was released on a $5,000 bond and issued a promise to appear in court.
DUI
9/17: Police pulled over a vehicle on New Canaan Road near Bayberry Lane for not having plate lights, according to police reports. Subsequently, police said they found that the operator, Umberto Stella, 45, of Wilton, to be intoxicated with alcohol and/or drugs. Stella was arrested after police conducted field sobriety tests on the accused, according to reports. He was charged with driving with no plate lights, DUI, and driving an unregistered motor vehicle; the accused was released on a promise to appear in court, according to police.
