Jerry Sullivan, 78, Loving Grandfather and Husband
Jerry Sullivan's funeral services will be held this Friday, Dec. 16.

Jerry Sullivan a resident of Wilton, CT for over 30 years, formerly of Columbus, Ohio and Pittsburg, Penn. passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Chicago, Ill. August 21, 1933, he was the son of the late Jeremiah and Evelyn Moriarty Sullivan. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret (Peggy) Ann Quinlan Sullivan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four sons, Mark (Elaine), Thomas, Daniel (Pamela), Michael (Kelly) and his daughter Mara (Ben) Lamanna all of Wilton, Conn. and a daughter-in-law Sarah Sullivan of Ridgefield, Conn. He leaves behind sixteen grandchildren: Jay, Kelly, Camie, Lexie, Katie, Maggie, Kurt, Erin, Reilly, Matthew, Sean, Kathleen, William, Kaitlyn, Annalise and Kerry. He is also survived by one brother, Robert Sullivan, of Grapevine, TX and a sister, Suzanne Leiter, of Columbus. OH.
Upon graduating from Duquesne University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and The George Washington University with a master’s degree in accounting, Mr. Sullivan was employed by Coopers & Lybrand (C&L) from 1958 through 1988. He was a partner of C&L from 1964 until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Sullivan also served the accounting profession as Chairman of the Auditing Standard Board of the AICPA.
He was Executive Director of the Public Oversight Board (POB) from 1989 through March 2002. From 2002 on, Mr. Sullivan served as an expert witness, testifying in the field of auditing. He was also a Director, Committee Member and Chairman of the Audit Committee for the Pitcairn Company. His career in auditing spanned 53 years and included such honors as the Sells Award and the 1996 Distinguished Service Auditing Award.

Mr. Sullivan lived each day to the fullest and his greatest joy was his family and friends and all the moments shared with them. He took great pleasure in attending the games of his grandchildren and cheering them on. He also loved travelling, gourmet food, sports cars and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday December 16, 2011 at , Danbury Rd, Wilton, Conn. at 11 am.
The family will receive friends at the , 199 Main Street, New Canaan on Thursday from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm.
