Nine Years Later, Littering Still Doesn't Pay

Wilton Police used their PRAWN system to nab a litterer from late 2002.

On October 22, 2002, witnessed a KFC cup tossed out of a car’s open window. Police said they then charged the vehicle’s owner, Dexter L Williams with an infraction ticket for littering. Williams did not respond to the ticket, and police issued a warrant for his arrest in March 2003.

Nine years later, Wilton police used their , system to track down Williams and issue him an arrest warrant and subsequent court summons for failure to respond to an infraction ticket.

Police have recently been using this system to weed out outstanding warrants. Williams, now 52, of Stamford, turned himself in. Police said that he had changed residences over the past nine years, making him more difficult to locate.

Although, “It wasn’t a high priority case,” said Lieutenant Donald Wakeman of the Wilton Police Department.

Police released the accused after he paid a $200 bond.
