Obituary: Carole Ann Sindel, 84, Of Wilton
After sending the youngest of her four children off to school, Carole drove a school bus for 32 years with a heartwarming dedication.

WILTON, CT — Carole Ann Sindel, 84, of Wilton, passed away on February 29th, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 15, 1939, in Schenectady, NY, she was the only child of the late Albert and Edith (Van Ness) Irwin. Carole loved growing up in the small town of Scotia, NY and spent her summers at Galway Lake with family and life-long friends. She attended Green Mountain College in Vermont and later worked at The Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Schenectady, where she met Fred, her husband of 62 years. After sending the youngest of her four children off to school, she drove a school bus for 32 years with a heartwarming dedication, treating every child as her own.

Carole treasured her family above all else and was happiest when caring for others. Over the years, many rescue and stray animals found their way into Carole’s heart and home, affectionately known as her four-legged kids. Carole's meals were something her family looked forward to, particularly during the holiday seasons, and her baking skills had a dedicated following among all who knew her. She greeted all with her vibrant smile and made everyone feel special. Carole had a great sense of humor and could pull off practical jokes that honored her father's legacy with pride.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Hans Sindel of Wilton; her four children, Lori and her predeceased husband; Dennis, whom Carole adored; Karl and wife Bonnie of Niskayuna, NY; John and Gigi of Redding; Lisa and husband Kevin of Bethel, and seven grandchildren: Tyler, Brooke, Tate, Jamie, Samantha, Dylan, and Sean. She also leaves her precious dogs, Elsa and Buddy.

Respecting Carole’s wishes of not wanting a wake or public burial, the family will hold a celebration of life in her honor held at Grace Community Church in New Canaan. Family will share additional details once confirmed.
