Obituary: Warren Stewart Williams, 78, Of Wilton
Early in his career, Warren worked at IBM as a systems engineer on the Apollo Project at the NASA Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston.

WILTON, CT — Warren Stewart Williams of Wilton passed away on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at the age of 78 after a long illness.
He was born in Bay City, Texas on May 5, 1945, the oldest child of Cecil Warren Williams and Mary Lou Stewart Williams, both of whom were educators.

After graduating as valedictorian of the Class of 1963 at South San Antonio High School, where he also captained their AAA State Champion baseball team, he attended the University of Texas-Austin, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree (Magna Cum Laude) in 1966 and a Master of Arts in 1968. Both degrees were in mathematics. He was elected to Phi Betta Kappa in 1965.
Upon completion of his Master’s Degree, he joined IBM as a systems engineer on the Apollo Project at the NASA Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston. His 33-year career with IBM entailed many relocations, with his most unique posting being General Manager, Southeast Asia, headquartered in Hong Kong. His final assignment was as a Vice President of Sales, North America.

Warren was an enthusiastic golfer and a longtime member of Silvermine Golf Club. After retirement, he rekindled a passion for competitive bridge, achieving the rank of Life Master. He and his wife, Betty enjoyed many exciting travel experiences, including Australia, Africa, China, as well as multiple visits to two favorite destinations: the Hawaiian Islands and France. Most importantly to him, he was able to spend considerable post-retirement time with the grandchildren he adored.
Warren is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Betty Mikus Williams; his three children, Darren E. Williams and his wife, Kara Lawrence of Chicago, IL; Megan W. Salomone and her husband Kory Salomone of Ridgefield, CT; and Drew M. Williams of Leavenworth, KS; three grandchildren, Anna E. Salomone, Theo L. Williams and Julia G. Salomone; his sister, Nancy W. Cowan of Maypearl, TX and his daughter-in-law, Ursula Williams of Stamford, CT. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert A. Williams of Corpus Christi, TX as well as his son, Derek A. Williams.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will take place privately.
