Occupation: retired, 40 years teacher/administrator
Family: One daughter, works for the Nature Conservancy
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government? No
Previous public office, appointive or elective: Yes ran for the BOE four years go
Why are you seeking this office? I am committed to helping kids become successful learners . Creating ways for those who need a different path to learn.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it: Challenges in Education are AI, how to use it as a successful tool. The changes that are going to happen in the classroom. I intend to find pathways for students and teachers to use all the tech opportunities to their advantage.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post? I am not sure there are any large ones, we all want our schools to help children learn. There are possibilities over the budget and how it's spent.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign? Ensuring we manage our budget appropriately, spending the money where it is needed.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job? I ran a successful school in Wilton. I understand how schools work, and how classrooms are managed.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you? Speak the truth and always listen carefully.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions? I am passionate about education and ensuring that we support our teachers. They are often agents of change for a young person. I want to make sure we help teachers teach our kids.
