Pickup Smashes into Bank's Glass Storefront after Prank Backfires

An apparent prank gone wrong ended up trapping a man in an ATM vestibule in Wilton.

A pickup truck pulled up to at 941 Danbury Road, letting the passenger out so he might use the ATM machine behind the bank’s glass door on Monday, June 4 at 7:30 p.m. The pickup truck then pulled forward, possibly as a prank, to ‘trap’ the other man inside; however, the pickup jostled the security door enough to jam it shut, this time actually trapping the other man inside, according to Captain John Lynch of the .

The pickup then attempted to re-open the door by plowing into it. After several attempts, the truck smashed through much of the glass walling, allowing the passenger to escape the vestibule and jump back into the truck before the driver left the scene, police said. Lynch said that the security camera, witness report and possible ATM usage will likely bring them the two men involved in the incident.
