Public Meeting Set For Wilton Bridge Replacement Project Over Norwalk River

CTDOT to host a virtual meeting on replacing Sugar Hollow Road bridge in Wilton. Public input invited.

WILTON, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation will hold a virtual public information meeting on June 25 regarding plans to replace the Sugar Hollow Road bridge over the Norwalk River.

The meeting, set for 6 p.m. via Zoom, will give residents the opportunity to learn about the project and ask questions. Registration is required to attend, and a question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. The session will be recorded and posted online.

The planned work involves replacing Bridge No. 04986 to meet modern load standards and improve safety for all roadway users, according to CTDOT Project Manager Marc Byrnes.

The project is expected to cost about $4 million, with 80 percent funded federally and 20 percent by the state. Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2028, pending funding, permit approvals, and the acquisition of rights of way.

Property impacts include partial takings, drainage easements, slope easements, and temporary construction access on multiple properties.
