Rolling Into Labor Day Weekend, How Are The Gas Prices In Wilton?
Historically, gasoline prices peak in early summer before sliding gradually in the weeks leading up to Labor Day. What's happening in 2024?
WILTON, CT — In the run-up to the long holiday weekend, gasoline prices in Wilton are following the time-honored script.
Historically, gasoline prices peak in early summer before sliding gradually in the weeks leading up to Labor Day. After reaching seasonal highs in mid-July, Northeast gas prices have fallen steadily and are now reaching levels below what drivers were paying through most of March and April, thanks in part to a quieter-than-expected hurricane season so far, according to Lauren Fabrizi, spokesperson for AAA Northeast.
In Connecticut, a gallon of self-service regular is averaging $3.41, down five cents from a week ago and down 15 cents from a month ago. The national average is $3.35, down six cents from last week and down 16 cents from last month.

"An escalation in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East sent crude oil prices higher over the weekend and that could slow the pace of price declines here at home," Fabrizi said. "For now, drivers are benefitting from the weeks-long decline in pump prices."
