Sobriety Point Nabs Six Driving Under the Influence Through Wilton
The following is an official letter from Lt. Stephen Brennan of the Wilton Police Department.

The Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, beginning in the evening and extending into Saturday morning. The checkpoint was established on Danbury Road (Rte. 7) at the intersection of Cricket Lane. Signage was posted in the area advising of the checkpoint. Eleven officers participated in this event over the eight-hour period. A grant was applied for and received to fund 75 percent of the cost for the officers for this detail.
This checkpoint was conducted in conjunction with the state and National DUI Enforcement Program in operation through Labor Day weekend—Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest. During the eight-hour period, officers made six arrests and one license revocation for retest.
