Storm Leaves 14 Percent of Wilton Residents Without Power; Closes Roads

A powerful storm knocked out power to thousands across the state; Metro-North's New Haven line experiencing wire issues in Darien, Norwalk and Westport.

With two percent of Wilton still without power—179 customers—Captain John Lynch sent out the following update:

Thirteen percent—1,011 out of 7,321 customers—remain without power in Wilton, according to Connecticut Light & Power.

According to Captain John Lynch, the following roads are now open:

  • 17 Friendly Lane
  • 47 Huckleberry Hill Rd. 
  • Pine Ridge Road at Spruce 
  • 53 Shadow Lane 
  • 249 Chestnut Hill Road 
  • 162 Chestnut Hill Road 
  • 60 Cheesespring Road  

Lynch said hazards still exist at the following roads:

  • 332 Deforest Road            
  • 105 Skunk Lane
  • 60 Nod Hill Rod
  • 52 Collingswood Road
  • 25 Ambler Lane 
  • St. Johns Road
  • Olmstead Hill Road
  • 54 Canterbury Lane

A powerful storm that moved through the state last night has left thousands across Connecticut without power Thursday morning.

According to the Connecticut Light & Power outage map, currently 953 customers in Wilton are without power as of 9:59 a.m. That's about 13 percent of their 7,321 users.

Schools were delayed this morning. At 6:25 a.m., Dr. Gary Richards, superintendent, announced a two-hour delay.

Earlier this morning, police sent out notifications that Belden Hill Road, Skunk Lane and Deforest Road were closed, and Nod Road had one lane opened to traffic.

Metro-North is also directing New Haven Line customers traveling eastbound to Noroton Heights, Darien, Rowayton, East Norwalk, Westport and Greens Farms that they must take a train to Southport then get a westbound train to get access to these stations due to wire issues in the area.
