The WDTC's Farewell to Richard Creeth

The official statement from the Wilton Democratic Town Committee honoring Richard Creeth for his municipal service.

Resolution  Honoring  Selectman  Richard  Creeth  for  Distinguished  Service

WHEREAS, Richard Creeth has served with distinction as Selectman for the Town of Wilton for eight years, and has been a member of the Wilton Democratic Town Committee since 1998, serving as Chair of the Wilton Democratic Town Committee from 2001 to 2003;

WHEREAS, Richard Creeth diligently and passionately performed his duties as Selectman, listening closely to the concerns of the people, balancing town priorities, and working closely with officials and citizens of all political stripes for the good of our town;

WHEREAS, Selectman Richard Creeth left his mark on town government and the lives of our citizens in many ways, including outstanding service as the Board of Selectman's representative to Wilton Commons, the tri-board committee and Trackside the teen center, working to end the line-item veto authority of the Board of Finance over the Board of Selectmen's budget, and bringing his business and accounting acumen to bear on Wilton's budget during the most challenging economic and fiscal environment in Wilton in 65 years; 

WHEREAS, Richard Creeth was an early adopter of energy-efficient measures in his personal life having installed CFL's before most people knew what they were, and continues to be a champion of responsible energy reforms in his public and personal lives;

WHEREAS, Selectman Richard Creeth championed the creation of the Wilton Energy Commission, and worked to make certain its mission, as set forth by the Board of Selectmen, included reducing the town's carbon footprint and the use of sustainable resources, in addition to conservation; he was a charter member of the Commission and continues his service on the Commission working with other dedicated members;

WHEREAS, Richard Creeth has served the high principles of open and honest government as well as informed and passionate service that are at the core of a strong and vibrant democracy; and

WHEREAS, Richard Creeth chose not to run for a fifth term as Selectman and, for this reason, is stepping down from the Board of Selectmen, but not from his service to the town or on the Wilton Democratic Town Committee.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED

The members of the Wilton Democratic Town Committee extend our heartiest thanks and warmest regards to Richard Creeth for his outstanding leadership in Wilton, Connecticut and in the Democratic party, and for his friendship through thick and thin.
