WILTON, C — A two-vehicle crash on Mountain Road in Wilton on July 5 sent three people to area hospitals and resulted in one driver receiving a written warning for failing to stay in the proper lane, according to Wilton police.
The incident occurred around 11:44 a.m. near the intersection with Laurelwood Lane. Police said a 2016 Chrysler Town & Country, driven westbound by Hugues Gerard Guede of Pittsfield, MA, was passing a 2025 Subaru Ascent traveling eastbound, when the Subaru crossed over the center line at a bend in the road and struck the Chrysler's front left tire.
The impact tore the Chrysler’s tire from its rim and left a gouge in the pavement indicating the point of contact. The Chrysler continued approximately 50 feet before coming to a stop on the shoulder of the westbound lane. The Subaru, operated by Elizabeth Sims of Wilton, then crossed into the opposite lane and veered about 30 feet into a wooded area, where it struck a tree head-on, police said.
