Officials from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection released updated black bear sighting statistics.
WILTON, CT — Officials from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection released updated black bear sighting statistics. The latest chart dates from Nov. 16, 2016 to Oct. 18, 2017 and includes municipalities with at least one sighting.
Avon was ahead of the pack, as usual, with 542. Wilton has reported 24 bear sightings during this period. The state itself reported 5,867 black bear sightings.
