Music is a bridge across cultures, languages, and generations—the soundtrack to some of our most cherished memories. More than that, music brings the joys of comfort and connection into our lives and the lives of those around us. From the time we were little until now as rising juniors, music has always been the heartbeat of our lives. As children, we cherished the thrill of piano recitals and competitive performances. However, it was the unspoken connection with our audiences that truly captivated us.

Earlier this year, we were fortunate enough to come across an opportunity to play music at one of the senior living facilities here in Wilton. Through our performances, we were blessed to discover a deeper purpose for the musical skills we had been developing since we were little. The first time we heard a gentle voice humming along to an excerpt from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet and later, a quiet chorus singing the words of Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World”, we realized the indescribable joy evoked by the simple act of sharing music. Over the last few months, it has been moments such as these that have served as a poignant reminder of music’s universal and timeless power to unite complete strangers.

Inspired by the priceless smiles of the residents and the precious bonds we have formed with them, we, together with our brother, created Musical Cheer, a volunteer organization, to enable other high school musicians to partake in our mission to spread cheer through music.
