Wilton Bear Poacher Enters Plea: Report

Two men were arrested in Wilton in September for killing and skinning two black bears.

WILTON, CT — A man who police said conspired to illegally kill a bear pled guilty to the charge in Norwalk Superior Court Thursday, The News Times reports Daniel Moran, 34, admitted to helping Antonio Lio, 28, move the two dead bears and skin them.

The two men were arrested in September after Lio allegedly killed the bears. Lio applied for the Accellerated Pretrial Rehabilitation program during his court appearance.

Lio is due back in court on Jan. 10.

Dozens of protesters gathered outside of the courthouse, calling for the maximum penalty for the two men. Both men faced misdemeanor charges.
