Wilton Community Assistance Fund Steps Up Food Pantry Support Amid SNAP Suspension

Wilton Community Assistance Fund boosts aid to the town's food pantry as SNAP benefit suspension increases demand.

WILTON, CT — The Wilton Community Assistance Fund is increasing its support for the town’s food pantry to help meet growing demand following the suspension of federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

At its October meeting, the nonprofit’s board voted to provide additional funding to ensure the pantry can continue serving local residents affected by the lapse in benefits. Board members will work with Wilton Social Services Director Stephanie Rowe to assess the need and coordinate assistance.

The Wilton Community Assistance Fund, or WCAF, currently covers about 80 percent of the Wilton Food Pantry’s costs through grants to the town. The remainder is supported by direct donations and community food drives organized by the Wilton Kiwanis Club, faith-based and civic groups, student organizations, and local businesses.
