Wilton EDC Launches Business Workshops Covering SEO, Farming, Finance and More This Summer
Wilton Economic Development Commission unveils July-August events to help local entrepreneurs and residents grow.
WILTON, CT — The Wilton Economic Development Commission, in collaboration with regional partners, is promoting a new slate of training events designed to support local businesses and residents. Scheduled throughout July and early August, the sessions cover a range of practical topics from website building to small-scale farming.
Here is a look at the upcoming offerings:
- How to Build a Website with Canva — July 8, 2025, at noon (online): Participants will learn to create mobile-friendly websites using Canva’s tools for small business marketing.
- Introduction to Patents and Intellectual Property — July 9, 2025, at noon (online): Aimed at inventors and entrepreneurs, this course covers the basics of intellectual property rights, with a focus on patents.
- The Cost of Fraud: Not If, But When - Protecting Your Small Business — July 16, 2025, at noon. (online): This webinar outlines the fraud risks specific to small businesses and offers preventative strategies.
- Show Me the Money—Financial Tools for Startup Success! — July 17, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Norwalk Library, 1 Belden Ave., Norwalk: Entrepreneurs will learn to interpret key financial reports and implement systems for budgeting and forecasting.
- Achieve Success with Business Planning and Business Growth Using SWOT Analysis! — July 21, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Fairfield Library, 1080 Old Post Rd., Fairfield: This workshop introduces SWOT analysis as a foundational tool for strategic business planning.
- Is Being a Virtual Assistant For You? — July 22, 2025, at noon (online): An introductory session for individuals considering a transition into the virtual assistant field, highlighting flexibility and remote opportunities.
- Intro to Entrepreneurship & SCORE — July 29, 2025, at noon (online): A general overview of what it takes to start and grow a business, including how SCORE can help with mentoring and resources.
- Business Opportunities in Farming – Getting Started in Farming — July 29, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Easton Library, 691 Morehouse Rd., Easton: This session highlights pathways into agriculture for new farmers, with a focus on business management and state resources.
- Developing a Business Plan: A Simple Approach to Planning & Execution — July 31, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Trumbull Library, 33 Quality St., Trumbull: An interactive workshop where participants begin drafting a business plan aligned with their goals.
- Best of Series: How to Optimize a Website Page for Search Engines Step by Step — August 5, 2025, at noon (online): A deep dive into SEO strategies for business owners, marketers, and developers aiming to improve website performance and reach.
All events are hosted in partnership with SCORE Fairfield County. Sessions are free, but advance registration is encouraged.
