Wilton EMS Service Awards 2012

Several EMS personnel were commemorated for saving a Wilton woman's life during this year's Wilton Emergency Personnel and Police Awards Ceremony.

Emergency Medical Service Awards:

Officer Shawn Frendt, Officer Diane Papa, Officer James Warner and Dispatcher John Galpin

On Feb. 14, 2011, Dispatcher Galpin received a 911 call from a resident who explained that his 50 year old wife was non-responsive.  Dispatcher Galpin instructed the caller on how to perform CPR until First Responders arrived at his him. When Officer Frendt, Warner and Papa arrived along with Wilton Fire personnel they continued to CPR as a defibrillator was set-up.  Once the defibrillator was attached it advised for a shock, and it was administered by Officer Papa.

Medical personnel informed the department that collectively, from Dispatcher Galpin giving pre-arrival instructions to the caller and the rapid response by Officers Frendt, Warner and Papa and the efforts at scene utilizing the Defibulator the woman survived.
