Wilton Firefighters Tackle Garage Fire On Sharp Hill Road

Firefighters in Wilton contained a garage fire on Sharp Hill Road Tuesday morning; no injuries were reported as crews battled the blaze.

WILTON, CT — Firefighters in Wilton responded to a garage fire on Sharp Hill Road Tuesday morning, bringing the blaze under control without injuries.

The fire was reported around 9:50 a.m. and drew an initial response from Wilton Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 4, Car 1, Car 2 and Wilton Ambulance, officials said. Engine 1 was first on the scene and reported flames coming from the roof of the garage.

Early reports suggested someone might still be inside, but searches and additional information confirmed that was not the case.

Firefighters established a water supply from a hydrant on Route 7 and stretched handlines to contain and extinguish the blaze. Crews also secured the building’s utilities, checked for fire extension and performed overhaul work.

Mutual aid was provided by New Canaan, Norwalk and Westport fire departments. Weston and Georgetown departments covered additional calls during the incident.

The Wilton Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Wilton police, EMS and the town’s building department also responded. No civilian or emergency service injuries were reported.
