Wilton Gas Prices Hold Steady Ahead Of July 4 As Regional Supplies Remain Strong
Connecticut gas prices stay flat as the Fourth of July approaches, with regional fuel supplies bucking the U.S. trend.
WILTON, CT — Connecticut drivers are heading into the Fourth of July holiday with some relief at the pump, as average gasoline prices in the state remained unchanged over the past week, according to AAA Northeast.
The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Connecticut is holding at $3.17, the same as last week, AAA reported Monday. While that figure is 7 cents higher than a month ago, it is still 39 cents lower than the average on the same date last year.
In Wilton, the best price for a gallon of regular fuel is $3.19 at the CITGO at 386 Danbury Road. That same gallon will set you back $3.29 at the Mobil at 46 Danbury Road. The update was posted Monday morning by shopping app GasBuddy.

The steady local price trend follows a volatile week in the oil and gas markets that ultimately ended with a sharp drop in crude oil prices. Tensions in the Middle East had driven earlier gains, but those pressures eased, shifting traders’ attention back to domestic supply and demand, according to a report from AAA Northeast.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported that gasoline demand rose by nearly 400,000 barrels per day last week, marking the third consecutive weekly increase. National gasoline inventories declined by 2.1 million barrels, which typically would raise prices. However, the Northeast saw inventories increase by just over 2 million barrels, a regional contrast that has helped stabilize prices in Connecticut and surrounding states.

“Recent geopolitical events showcased the volatile nature of oil and gas markets, but right now supply and demand are the primary factors impacting how much it costs to fill our tanks,” said Lauren Fabrizi, spokesperson for AAA Northeast.
Nationally, the average price for regular gas stands at $3.18, down 4 cents from last week and 31 cents below this time last year. Mississippi and Oklahoma have the lowest statewide averages at $2.71 and $2.73, respectively, while California and Hawaii remain the most expensive at $4.59 and $4.47.
Connecticut ranks 19th in the nation for highest average gas prices.
