Police Arrest Cleaning Man for Sixth Degree Larceny and Forgery

A cleaning man for a Wilton family was arrested after police said he stole and forged checks from his employer.

WILTON, CT — Wilton Police Captain John Lynch said a Bridgeport man was arrested for an incident dating back to April 27, 2011. A victim reported to Wilton police that two unauthorized checks were cashed totaling $500. Upon investigating, officers discovered that the two checks were deposited to the same bank account. A search warrant provided the details regarding the information of the account including the name of the account owner.

An investigation revealed that the cleaning person, Nechtali Lara, had stolen the checks and deposited them into another account. A warrant was issued for Lara’s arrest and police tried for several years to arrest Lara but he could not be located, police said.

Lynch said he was finally arrested on Nov. 22, 2016. Court records show he was arrested and charged with forgery and two counts of sixth degree larceny. His bond was set at $5,000 and he is next due in court on Dec. 1, 2016.
