Wilton Police Report DUI Stop, 2 Vehicle Crashes In Early October
Wilton police reported a DUI traffic stop and two separate vehicle crashes, including one involving a tree and another with utility poles.
WILTON, CT — A Weston man was taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests during a traffic stop, and officers also responded to two separate motor vehicle crashes earlier this month, according to the Wilton Police Department.
Police said that around 1:50 a.m. on Oct. 3, officers stopped a red Tesla Model 3 traveling north on Danbury Road at a high rate of speed. The driver, identified as 45-year-old Armando Llaza of Weston, was also seen running a red light at the intersection of Danbury and Westport roads.
Llaza admitted to consuming alcohol before driving and did not successfully complete the standardized field sobriety tests, police said. He was taken into custody and refused chemical testing. Llaza was charged with driving under the influence, speeding, and failure to obey a traffic signal. He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Oct. 16.
