Wilton Police Respond To Separate DUI Incidents On Danbury Road
Two drivers face DUI and license-related charges in separate Wilton incidents on Danbury Road last week.
WILTON, CT — Two motorists face charges after unrelated incidents on Danbury Road in which both drivers were found to be under the influence, according to the Wilton Police Department.
On July 16, officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Danbury Road and Wolfpit Road. The driver of one vehicle, identified as Wendi Mejia-Lazaro, 25, of Norwalk, showed signs of impairment and admitted to drinking alcohol. Mejia-Lazaro did not successfully complete standardized field sobriety tests, according to police. Subsequent chemical testing revealed blood alcohol content levels of 0.1801 and 0.1898. In Connecticut, the legal blood alcohol content limit for driving is 0.08 percent for those 21 and older.
Mejia-Lazaro was charged with driving under the influence, operating a motor vehicle without a license, and making an improper U-turn. She was released after posting 7 percent of her $300 bond, and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on July 29.

In a separate incident around 5:30 a.m. on July 20, a motorist notified police of a white 2025 Toyota Tacoma stopped in the southbound travel lane near the intersection of Danbury Road and Seeley Road. Officers arrived to find both occupants asleep inside the vehicle, which was blocking the roadway.
The driver, identified as Henry Lala-Illasaca, 27, of Stamford, admitted to consuming seven beers prior to driving, police said. Two open beer containers were located in the vehicle. Lala-Illasaca did not pass standardized field sobriety tests and refused chemical testing. He was cited for driving under the influence, operating with a suspended license, and driving without a valid license. He was released after posting bond and is expected to appear in court on July 31.
