Wilton Police Respond To Traffic Stop, DUI And Crash On Danbury Road

Wilton police addressed a DUI, a crash with guardrail damage, and a failure to appear case in recent traffic enforcement activity.

WILTON, CT — Wilton police responded to a series of traffic-related incidents between April 19 and April 27, including a driving under the influence case, a crash involving a guardrail, and a motorist wanted on a failure to appear warrant.

On April 27 at approximately 2:16 a.m., officers stopped a 2021 Honda Civic traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Danbury Road near Old Mill Road. The driver, 29-year-old Oseas Nunes Pina of Danbury, showed signs of impairment and admitted to consuming alcohol before operating the vehicle, according to the police report. He was unable to complete roadside tests to standard and later registered blood alcohol content levels of 0.1260 and 0.1239 on breath tests. In Connecticut, the legal blood alcohol content limit for driving is 0.08 percent for those 21 and older.

Nunes Pina was charged with DUI, speeding, and operating without a license. He was released after posting a percentage of his $300 bond and is due in Stamford Superior Court on May 8.

Separately, on April 25, officers initiated a traffic stop on a white 2019 Chevy Express van on Danbury Road and took 39-year-old Angel Cordero-Mones of Bridgeport into custody after confirming an outstanding failure to appear warrant from Norwalk Police related to motor vehicle charges. He posted 10 percent of a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 5.

On April 19, police responded to a crash on Ridgefield Road near Rossimur Court. A 2019 Honda HR-V, operated by 66-year-old Carlos Ortiz of Wilton, crossed the center line and struck a guardrail. Ortiz reported minor injuries but declined transport. He was issued an infraction for failure to drive right. Approximately 20 feet of guardrail were damaged in the incident.
