Wilton Shows Cider Mill Holiday Warmth

A thank you letter to Cider Mill School.

To the Editor,

“I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver” - Maya Angelou

On behalf of the fifty-three families that were recipients of the Holiday Giving project, I wanted to express a great big THANK YOU!

Each year, for more than two decades now, the Cider Mill Community provides boxes of non-perishable foods and special treats to ensure that families will have stocked pantries throughout the holidays. In addition, families are given gift cards for fresh foods with funds raised through the Turkey Trot. There are often many extra items in these boxes, including gift wrapping, decorations, candles, holiday crafts, small toys and games, blankets, calendars, and the list goes on!

The boxes are cheerfully delivered to families by our Parks and Grounds staff; however, some families choose to pick their boxes up here at Comstock.  It is the grateful expressions of these recipients that I get to witness, both in their voices and in their eyes, which I wish I could share with all who have contributed to this giving project.

Since I cannot, I will simply say a heartfelt THANK YOU to Pauline Monteleone who coordinates the project on the Cider Mill end, Doug Katz and his staff at Parks and Grounds who do the deliveries and the heavy lifting, Dawn Randall who helps organize the morning of the deliveries, my colleagues here at Social Services who help coordinate with the families, the custodial staff at Cider Mill who also do the heavy lifting, and to the entire Cider Mill School community (children, parents, and staff) for your work together and for your generosity. Please know how much your giving means to others; I expect you already know how good it feels to give!
