Wilton Sixth Grader Honored in Statewide Energy Contest

A Middlebrook School student wins third place in the eesmarts contest for promoting energy-efficient choices at home.

WILTON, CT — Jack Richardson, a sixth-grade student at Middlebrook School in Wilton, was recently awarded third place in the 20th Annual eesmarts Student Contest for his persuasive letter promoting energy-efficient choices at home.

The statewide contest, presented by Energize Connecticut in collaboration with Eversource and Avangrid subsidiaries, invites K-12 students to submit creative projects focused on sustainability, energy efficiency, and clean energy. Entries this year included essays, videos, posters, poems, comic strips, and more.

To mark the program’s 20th year, a new prompt was introduced for educators, encouraging them to engage students in energy-saving projects such as songs or videos.
