Wilton Town Manager Seeks Witnesses After Hit-And-Run Crash In Bethel
Wilton Town Manager Matthew Knickerbocker seeks witnesses to hit-and-run crash that occurred Sunday night in Bethel.
WILTON, CT — Wilton Town Manager and former Bethel First Selectman Matthew Knickerbocker is asking the public for help identifying a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that occurred Sunday evening in Bethel.
According to a statement Knickerbocker posted on Facebook, the incident happened around 8:15 p.m. as he was driving south on Plumtrees Road, shortly after passing the intersection with Taylor Road. A white or light-colored SUV, possibly a Jeep Cherokee or similar model, reportedly crossed the center line and struck the driver's side of Knickerbocker’s vehicle before fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed.
The impact deployed the airbag in Knickerbocker’s vehicle, and he was transported to the hospital for evaluation by emergency medical personnel from the South Street Fire Station. He said he sustained only minor injuries.

Knickerbocker said the striking vehicle may have visible front-end damage on the driver's side and could bear a streak of silver-gray paint transferred from his own car.
Knickerbocker downplayed the hospital visit, saying,"I understand a trip to the ER is more or less standard operating procedure when a collision is hard enough to trigger the airbags."
