Wilton Traffic Stop Leads To Custody Transfer On Outstanding Warrant
Wilton police stopped a vehicle for a registration issue and transferred the driver to Stamford officers on an outstanding warrant.
WILTON, CT — A Bridgeport man was taken into custody by Wilton police following a traffic stop on Danbury Road and later transferred to Stamford authorities on an outstanding warrant.
According to police, the stop occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. on April 13, after a gray Nissan Maxima was seen traveling northbound with its rear license plate obscured by a tinted plastic cover. A records check revealed the vehicle had been unregistered since Jan. 28, 2024.
The vehicle was stopped at the Gateway Shopping Center, where officers determined that the driver, 24-year-old Steven Miguel Alvarez-Baez, had an active warrant for disorderly conduct issued by the Stamford Police Department.

Alvarez-Baez was issued a written warning for failure to renew registration and was transported to Wilton Police Headquarters. He was later turned over to Stamford police without incident.
