Wilton Wetlands Commission upholds cease-and-desist, reviews pool project, and approves corrective tree and clearing plans.
WILTON, CT — The Wilton Inland Wetlands Commission addressed multiple enforcement actions and new applications during its Aug. 14 meeting, including upholding a cease-and-desist order for unauthorized grading and reviewing corrective plans for tree removals and clearing near watercourses.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m.
Cease-And-Desist Order Upheld
The commission voted to uphold a cease-and-desist order at 144 Cheese Spring Road after reports of unauthorized grading and fill material in a regulated area. Property owner Luca Palombo apologized, saying he was unaware a permit was required. Commissioners required a corrective action application to be submitted by Sept. 23.

Public Hearing On Ridgefield Road Pool Project
A public hearing continued for a proposal at 318 Ridgefield Road to install an in-ground pool, terrace, stormwater infiltration system, and landscaping restoration within the upland review area. Engineers confirmed stormwater systems were in place and that weekly monitoring would occur. The commission kept the hearing open pending sign-off from the Department of Public Works, continuing the matter to Sept. 11.
Corrective Actions On Clearing And Tree Removal
The Silvermine Club Leasing Corp. gained approval for a corrective planting plan after unauthorized clearing near a watercourse at 1 Silvermine Woods Road. Mitigation plantings must be installed by Oct. 15.

At 88 Danbury Road, commissioners approved a corrective plan requiring a 2-to-1 replacement for 11 trees removed without authorization. Replanting is due by Oct. 1.
An application for a septic-related project at 278 Rivergate Drive was delayed after plans failed to arrive in time.
New Applications And Minor Activity Approvals
The town submitted an application for a bridge replacement on Cannon Road, while another was filed for a septic replacement at 84 Turtleback Road. A minor activity request for a screened porch and deck at 358 Belden Hill Road was also approved.
Violations Under Review
The commission discussed ongoing violations at 531 Danbury Road, where unauthorized clearing of 7,000 square feet of vegetation occurred earlier this year. The church involved, Comunidad Cristiana Vida Abundante Wilton, has not complied with corrective planting requirements and fines, though commissioners postponed imposing a third fine pending further legal discussions.
Separately, a violation involving unauthorized fill at 63 Kellogg Drive remains under investigation.
Other Business
The commission approved minutes from its July 24 meeting and adjourned at 8:33 p.m.
