Wilton Education Foundation Donations Down by Half

The Wilton Education Foundation is requesting donations.

Wilton will soon face another difficult budget year; has always done its part to help support our schools financially, but it has been significantly harder to meet our fundraising goals. As of December 31, 2011 the foundation has only received half of the contributions as it did the same time last year, despite an aggressive, end-of-year letter campaign aimed at parents and grandparents of Wilton students.

Last year the foundation raised and gave to the Wilton schools $75,000 to be used to purchase SMART technology teaching tools, to fund staff development and to support music and art programs.

The foundation raised this money through its annual appeal letter campaign, and by presenting programs that not only raised money but also created wholesome family entertainment. These included “”, two Acoustic Wilton Concerts featuring Wilton student musicians, the “” 5K run, as well as brick and “Honor a Teacher” sales and a silent auction put on for the foundation’s benefit by the Wilton Newcomers Club. The foundation plans to present these family entertainment programs again in 2012.

As we go forward in 2012 we hope donations will pick up. We definitely will keep working to raise money to support the Wilton schools by presenting the programs mentioned above and perhaps with a new program or two.

Please consider making a donation to WEF this year. To do so, please visit our website, www.WiltonEducationFoundation.org.
