The town council is scheduled to trim its proposed budget, which was shot down by residents on May 14.
According to Windsor Town Manager Souza, the town council's decisions should be affected by one thing.
"I expect the Town Council to take into account comments they have heard from community members and work together on making adjustments to the budget," said Souza Friday.
Immediately following the rejection of the council's $101 million spending plan, Windsor Mayor Don Trinks and Council Republican Don Jepsen said grumblings over the board of education will likely inform the decision-making process.
Board President Doreen Richardson said such cuts would lead to the end of programs like gifted education and free athletic participation, and the elimination of jobs.
It should come as no surprised that Souza expects the town council to work together, as the plan sent to referendum on May 14 was a bi-partisan effort that decreased the tax increase town manager's proposed by a full percentage point.
That plan included a $100 thousand reduction to funding requested by the board of education.
The town's current operating budget was a Democratic plan; it received no Republican support on the council.
The town council is scheduled to meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
