Windsor Man Identified after Fatal Altercation with Massachusetts Police

Massachusetts State Police have released the identity of the Windsor man who died following an altercation with police May 29.

According to police, 47-year-old Windsor resident Donald T. Moskites was approached by two state troopers while walking near an interstate and "became violent and physically assaulted the troopers, biting one of them in the forearm."

Police say the troopers utilized pepper spray to subdue Moskites, who subsequently went into cardiac arrest.

Troopers performed CPR and requested ambulance response, and Moskites was pronounced dead after being transported to a Brighton, Mass. hospital, police say.

An autopsy is being conducted by the state's office of the chief medical examiner, and Moskite's next of kin was notified by Connecticut State Police, police say.

According to police, investigations are ongoing to determine why Moskites was walking along the interstate and whether or not the use of pepper spray was warranted.
