Don't Forget Father's Day is Sunday!

Here is a look at five things you might be interested in today, Friday, June 15.

1. We made it to Friday and are about to enter a beautiful weekend, at least as far as the weather is concerned.

According to the National Weather Service, the sun will be out for the better part of the weekened, except for some morning fog on Father's Day. Expect today to be sunny with temperatures near 80ÂşF and Saturday to be much of the same.

Sunday, Father's Day, will have some fog before 7 a.m. then the sun will break through making it a great day for any outdoor cookouts or other dad's day activities that you might have planned.

2. Speaking of Father's Day, do you know it's history?

After a couple failed attempts to get the masses to honor father's with their own special day, the first Father's Day was recognized in the state of Washington on July 19, 1910, according to History.com.

Not as popular with people and retailers, Father's Day was slower to catch on than it's sister holiday, Mother's Day. In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge encouraged people to observe the day, but in some cases men actually “scoffed at the holiday’s sentimental attempts to domesticate manliness," the site quotes one historian.

The holiday finally caught on in 1972 when President Richard Nixon made it a national holiday. And the rest his history.

3. If you're still at a loss about what to do for or where to bring dad to make him feel extra special on Sunday, here are some neat and a few outing suggestions thrown in there for good measure.

4. One extra special event planned for Sunday is the show at the Albert J. Solnit Psychiatric Center in East Windsor.

The event includes super cool cars, from classic hot rods to carefully restored antiques to moder marvels, and raises money to benefit the children who live at the center.

5. Sometimes the best Father's Day gifts are the presents that you uncover yourself. Sporting Dad columnist Ron Goralski did just that earlier this week when that he'd kept filled with letters to one of his sons.
