What is My Wife Saying? East Windsor Dance Classes, Quote of the Day

Here are five things going on in the area today.

Good morning, Windsor Locks and East Windsor! Today is Thursday, March 7, 2013; there are 299 days left in the year.

So I’m struggling to find a topic to write about in this space. My wife, bless her, suggested that I write about how the Manchester Community College incident is indicative of our living in a new culture of fear.

And I would write about that if, 1. it was remotely funny, which it isn’t; and 2. more importantly, I don’t understand what she’s saying.

She uses big words.

Here’s your Daily 5:

1. When the weather outside is best described as yucky, sometimes you have to do what you have to do to make the best of a situation. Sometimes that means you just gotta dance. Whether you’re having a dance party in your kitchen or taking part in a bit more formal training at a local studio it’s a great way to get some exercise and let the music take you away.

2. As soon as your child hears a tune does he or she start to sway to the beat? Why not teach him or her to move along to the rhythm? The Fred Astaire Dance Studio in South Windsor is offering ballroom classes for youngsters. The first class is always free and there are a couple scheduled for Thursday night. Check it out.

3. If your youngster is more interested in old school beat-box tunes, this breakdancing class offered by Rhythms Dance Academy in East Windsor might be more his or her speed.

4. Don’t forget to strap on your own shoes. If you’ve ever imagined yourself twirling around a stage or frantically tapping away like Howard “Sandman” Sims or Gregory Hines, there’s an adult beginners tap class offered each Thursday night at Rhythms.

5. Here’s a great quote for the day from Anne Frank as posted by searchwarp.com: "How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”
