Wilmington's Kwanzaa tradition highlights unity and the power of community (whyy.org) — For more than 30 years, Wilmington has sustained a vibrant Kwanzaa tradition now led by Culture Restoration Project Inc. Local organizers describe how the city’s celebrations highlight unity, African heritage, and the seven guiding principles, drawing hundreds of residents to share food, music, and community connection each year. 
2. Man charged with murdering Delaware woman on Christmas Eve (fox29.com) — A 68-year-old woman died after an assault on North Lincoln Street in Wilmington on Christmas Eve, and police have charged 50-year-old Dario Griner with first-degree murder and weapons offenses. Officers found the victim critically injured around 6 p.m., and she later died at the hospital. Authorities have not yet released her name or a possible motive.
3. Hannah Dell named new communications director for Diocese of Wilmington; Bob Krebs retiring (thedialog.org) — A longtime communications leader for the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, Bob Krebs, is retiring after 25 years, and Bishop William Koenig has appointed Hannah R. Dell as his successor starting January 16. Dell brings extensive experience from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and will help share stories of Catholic life across Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore, including Wilmington’s parishes, schools, and ministries.
4. After Camden Fire, Family of 10 Gifted for Christmas (tapinto.net) — A Camden family of ten displaced by a house fire may soon find stability in Wilmington, where a foster mom-turned-benefactor has offered them a fully furnished five-bedroom rental. After months in unsafe housing, the children received a hall full of Christmas gifts and the parents are weighing whether disability benefits could make the Wilmington move possible.
5. Christmas 2025: Concluding the Jubilee Year of Hope, we follow the light of Christ (thedialog.org) — A Christmas homily from Bishop Koenig was delivered at St. Ann in Wilmington, tying the season’s lights to the Christian belief in Christ as a light in times of grief, anxiety, and division. He urges local worshippers to let that light shine in daily life, especially as the Jubilee Year of Hope concludes.
