• Photo of the Week: Del. cargo ship fire (firerescue1.com) — Wilmington firefighters tackled a dangerous engine-room fire aboard the cargo ship Chiquita Voyager at the Port of Wilmington, evacuating crew and controlling the blaze in about three hours. Roughly 70 fire and EMS personnel responded, and four crew members were injured and taken to Christiana Hospital as crews monitored the ship through the following day.
   

• Accused lookout in alleged gang-related fatal kidnapping sentenced to 12 years (wdel.com) — A man involved in a brutal 2021 kidnapping that began in Wilmington and left a 35-year-old city resident dead has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison. Prosecutors say he acted as a lookout while gang members abducted, beat, and ultimately killed the victim, with several co-defendants already receiving lengthy sentences and one remaining to be sentenced in Delaware courts.
   

• After Camden Fire, Family of 10 Gifted for Christmas (tapinto.net) — A South Jersey community rallied to give a Camden family of 10 a joyful Christmas and a path toward stability, including an offer to rent a fully furnished five-bedroom house in Wilmington. The parents, displaced by a devastating fire and now living on a rough Philadelphia block, are weighing whether disability benefits could make the Wilmington rent manageable while their kids recover from a traumatic year.
