1. State Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash in Wilmington (delaware.gov) — A woman from Texas was killed Sunday night in a hit-and-run on East Lea Boulevard near Colony Boulevard in Wilmington, and Delaware State Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the vehicle involved. The road was closed for about two hours, and investigators are seeking witnesses, dashcam footage, or surveillance video. Victim support services are available 24/7 through the State Police Victim Services Unit.
   

2. First Day Hikes in Delaware to start the new year in nature (delawareonline.com) — Several New Year’s Day “First Day Hikes” are planned in and around Wilmington, including a guided walk through Brandywine Park starting at 1001 N. Park Drive. From Alapocas Woods to Fox Point and Bellevue, state park naturalists will lead free, informative hikes that showcase local history, wildlife, and scenery while parking at Delaware State Parks remains free until March 1.
   

3. Delaware's growing taste for West African products, trade (delawareonline.com) — Delaware’s Port of Wilmington is emerging as a key gateway for West African imports, drawing trade delegations and interest in new agricultural partnerships. At the same time, local shops like Vegg on Kirkwood Highway are struggling to keep up with demand for West African foods. Together, they hint at Wilmington’s growing role in connecting neighborhood shoppers with global supply chains.
   

4. Long Lines at DMV Cause Frustration (wmdt.com) — Delaware DMV offices have reopened after a weeklong shutdown triggered by a fatal shooting in Wilmington, but residents are now facing hours-long waits and confusion at locations like Dover and Delaware City. With late fees waived for December and January expirations, officials are urging drivers to use online services while staff work through the backlog and ask customers to be patient with the strained system.
