Bagels & Co. plans to expand to additional cities across the U.S., including in the college towns of Columbus, Ohio, Gainesville, Florida and Tempe, Arizona. The popular quick-serve, family-friendly bagel shop is known for having more than a dozen varieties of Brooklyn-style bagels with flavors that include French toast, cheddar habanero, everything, blueberry, asiago, cinnamon raisin, whole wheat and egg everything. Their vast selection of more than 25 eclectic cream cheese flavors that include maple bacon, birthday cake, black truffle, cookie monster, honey nut, sriracha scallion and vegan tofu have gone viral on social media. The café also offers a selection of breakfast sandwiches and lunch options, as well as coffee and specialty drinks from La Colombe.
Armantrout envisions pacing the brand’s growth at a purposeful, thoughtful and steady cadence to sustain the business long-term. He is already a big fan of Bagels & Co.’s The Classic Sandwich — lox, capers, tomato, cucumbers and onions — on an everything bagel schmeared with cream cheese.
“The bagels are so fresh and huge. They’re baked and crispy and light on the inside,” he said. “I’ve never had a bagel like that before. You can’t beat the price and the quality. I think that’s really a brand distinction for us.”
