2 Bradenton Men Rescued From Fishing Boat in Gulf

The U.S. Coast Guard hoisted the men aboard a helicopter Sunday morning after the boat experienced engine trouble and had to be left adrift, officials said.

Two Bradenton men were rescued from their fishing boat Sunday after it had engine trouble about 40 miles northwest of Cedar Key in the Gulf of Mexico, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

Paul Conners, 47, and Steve Kapez, 42, were aboard the boat "No Bananas" when they called for help on their radio Saturday afternoon, the Coast Guard said.

A helicopter crew from Air Station Clearwater arrived early Sunday morning to hoist them men aboard. No injuries were reported, officials said.

The 42-foot boat was left adrift after a Good Samaritan was unable to tow it because of rough seas. The Coast Guard asks all boaters to report any sightings.
