33-Year-Old Tarpon Springs Man Found Hiding In Swamp

A 33-year-old Tarpon Springs man was taken into custody over the weekend after a K-9 found him hiding in a swamp, police said.

BRADENTON, FL — A 33-year-old Tarpon Springs man was taken into custody over the weekend after a police K-9 found him hiding in a swamp near I-275 and Stotz Road, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

William J. Botelho was charged with DUI with property damage, fleeing the scene of an accident and resisting arrest without violence, explained Sgt. Angel Posada-Wilcher of the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Posada-Wilcher said Botelho crashed into a light pole on a ramp to I-275 north. He said Botelhowas spotted fleeing the scene on foot toward U.S. 19.

"Deputies arrived on scene and obtained a description of the driver, Posada-Wilcher said. "Patrol units saturated the area and established a perimeter for a K-9 track."
