5 Things You Need To Know Today: February 24
Pep Rally for the Pirates is set for Saturday, a pottery sale begins today and students will participate in the county's annual history fair Saturday.

1. Students at will put on their walking shoes today to help raise funds for needed classroom equipment and supplies during the school’s Annual Walk-A-Thon. Students in grades K-5 have collected pledges and will run/walk at least a mile. The goal is to raise $10,000. For information or to pledge contact Tammy Meyer at 941 727-2067.
2. The will sponsor its 3rd Annual pep rally for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Old Main Street in downtown Bradenton on Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event features autographs, games, face painting and prizes.
3. 209 9th St. W., is having a pottery sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and Saturday. Items of pottery on sale include mugs, bowls and vases. Stop by the pottery studio to shop.

4. Scores of Manatee County public, private and home school students in grades 6 - 12 are set to participate in Saturday's History Fair at the Manatee County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The ’s Department of Historical Resources and the Manatee County Historical Commission sponsor the Annual Manatee County History Fair to promote the study of history.
5. The FFA Alumni and Manatee County Cattlemen’s Association are hosting a “Smoke On The River” BBQ Cook Off extravaganza on Saturday, March 3, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Manatee County Fairgrounds. The event includes great food, Lawn Tractor Pulls, a Classic Car Show, Diesel Truck Show, a Ranch Rodeo and more. Admission is $5.
