Eleven high schools to compete in a District Drill Meet Saturday, Manatee's youngest wrestlers have organized a rummage sale and car wash to benefit one of their teammates and don't miss the DeSoto Seafood Fest this weekend.

1. Tonight is the kick off for the in . The three-day event kicks off at 5 p.m. and includes live music, beer and of course great seafood. Admission is free.

2. JROTC programs representing 11 high schools in Manatee and Sarasota Counties will hold their annual District Drill Meet Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Palmetto High School. Male and Female cadets will compete in drill team and individual drill categories. Competing Manatee District Schools are , , , , and . Winners from Saturday’s District Meet advance to the State Drill Meet in Lakeland on April 14.

3. The is hosting a fundraiser for Isaiah Jackson, 7, who was hit by a car on University Parkway last month. Isiah's teammates have helped to organize a rummage sale, hot dog sale and car wash set for Sunday. The rummage sale will include household items, books, clothes and toys. Grab a hot dog for lunch while you wait to get your car washed. The fundraising event will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Shell Service Station and Courtesy Cleaners off of Manatee Avenue and 35th Street West.

4. Kurt Sutton brings his brand new one-man show based on Mark Twain’s book “Roughing It” on Saturday to the for one show. The curtain time is 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. 5. will host a “Moms vs. Sons” competition on Saturday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the school. Contests will include Relay Races, Hula-Hoops, Jumping Rope, Ring Toss, Kick Ball, Trivia and more. Male students along with their mothers, grandmothers, aunts or role models will be participating. The school’s Parent Teacher Organization is hosting the event.
