County host worksession on bridges, Dog Days arrive at De Soto National Park and the City Council will have a special meeting on Wednesday.

3.The Bradenton City Council will meet Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in the second floor conference room of the to award the Ware’s Creek Utility Relocation Project.

4. Manatee County Habitat for Humanity is holding its 2012 “Building Hope” fundraiser on Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the site of its newest “green built” Habitat  community in Ellenton.  Tickets for the event are $45.00 and include Mediterranean Fusion appetizers, dinner, dessert, music, Habitat home tours and the purchase of a “block” which can be personalized with your message of hope for a future Habitat family. All proceeds from a live and silent auction will to go to purchase materials needed to build additional homes for qualified Habitat families.  Tickets can be purchased on line at tinyurl.com/manateehabitat or by calling the Manatee Habitat office at 748-9100 ext 107.

5. The Dog Days are coming to on Saturday. Visitors are encouraged to leash up their dogs and head to the national park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be a day filled with activities, demonstrations, and information promoting safe and healthy dogs. Get information on dog adoptions, enjoy kids activities and food.  Dr. Luke Berglund will be on hand from the Beach Veterinary Clinic, Cortez Road to give free advice on your pet’s health at our “Ask your Vet” booth.
