639 More Coronavirus Cases In Florida
Florida health officials reported 639 new coronavirus cases in Florida on Sunday.
ORLANDO, FL — Florida health officials reported a total of 31,528 coronavirus cases Sunday, an increase of 639 cases in a 24-hour-period.
Speaking in Orlando on Sunday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis noted that nearly 40 percent of the state's coronavirus cases are in Miami-Dade County, which has been described as the epicenter of Florida's outbreak along with nearby Broward County and Palm Beach County.
"If you look at the state of Florida, we have about 60-plus percent of the cases in three counties in southeast Florida," the governor said. "Southeast Florida represents about 29 percent of the population but over 60 percent of the fatalities and hospitalizations."

The death toll from the virus climbed to 1,074 on Sunday from 1,055, an increase of 19 people who died from the virus in Florida.
Six of Florida's 67 counties reported new deaths Sunday as state health officials began reporting coronavirus data one time per day. Officials had been updating the case numbers twice each day.

Broward County reported eight new deaths on Sunday. Miami-Dade County reported six more deaths. Citrus County reported two more deaths as did Volusia County. Alachua County reported one new death as did Lee County.
A number of Florida's cases have come from 366 long-term elder care facilities. Health officials said those facilities account for 2,934 cases and 311 deaths involving residents or staff.
Miami-Dade reported a total of 11,351 confirmed cases, more than any other county. Nearby Broward County, which includes Fort Lauderdale, reported 4,729 cases. Palm Beach County, which includes West Palm Beach, reported 2,697 cases.
Hillsborough County, which includes Tampa, reported 1,048 cases as of Saturday. Orange County, which includes Orlando, reported 1,322 cases.
