Adoptable Dog of the Week: Sophie is Special

She's just one of the pets up for adoption at the county's downtown center.

This week's adoptable pet is Sophie, a beautiful white and blue bull dog mix.

Sophie, a three year old spayed female, is deaf but follows hand signals. It is clear someone spent time working with her and training her. She is well-mannered and calm. She has been with Manatee County Animal Services since Dec. 29, when she was picked up in Rubonia. You can visit Sophie at the county's downtown adoption center next week or at the Palmetto adoption center for Animal Services. The downtown center is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Palmetto location is open weekdays and also on Saturdays. The downtown center will open its new expanded facility on Tuesday and will get new hours to include Saturdays.

March is a great month to adopt Sophie. Manatee County Animal Services is offering a $30 adoption fee for dogs through the end of March. Adoptions include spay/neuter, vaccinations, health check, microchip and current rabies certificate/tag. This adoption special is another step in the County’s plan to become a no-kill community.
