Governor Appoints Melanie Marken to Southern Manatee Fire and Rescue District

Gov. Rick Scott today announced the appointment of Melanie A. Marken to the Board of Commissioners of the Southern Manatee Fire and Rescue District.

 Marken, 35, of Bradenton, has been a paralegal with Fournier and Connolly P.A. since 2011 and with Lewis, Longman and Walker P.A. from 2006 to 2011. Previously, she was a legal assistant in the Sarasota County Attorney’s Office from 2003 to 2006; with FCCI Insurance Group from 2000 to 2003; and with Lulz, Bobo, Telfair P.A. from 1995 to 2000. She is the current vice president of the Sarasota Manatee Association of Legal Support Specialists.

Marken received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida. She will fill the vacancy created by the suspension of Mark D. Ruben and is appointed for a term beginning August 15, 2012, and extending for the period of suspension, not to extend beyond the term.
