Manatee County Student Honored with 'Leaders 4 Life' Award

A student from Manatee County is among five young people statewide to be honored with the Leaders 4 Life Fellowship at a state conference attended by hundreds of Florida’s top education leaders in Tallahassee.

Houng Thuy Nguyen of Manatee County was recognized by the non-profit organization, which provides scholarships, mentors and hope to low-income and at-risk youth.

The five highly motivated scholars were selected based on their demonstration of leadership skills, moral character and academic success. They were recognized by Gov. Rick Scott during a special reception.
