Arrest Made In Crash That Killed Bradenton Man
Sarasota Police have announced DUI charges in an April crash on Higel Avenue that killed a Bradenton man.

SARASOTA, FL — A 39-year-old Bradenton woman faces criminal charges following an April crash that left a 29-year-old man dead. Irana Negrete’s arrest was announced Wednesday by the Sarasota Police Department.
Police say Negrete was behind the wheel of a Dodge Journey around 3:10 a.m. April 3. As the vehicle approached Siesta Drive from the north, police say “Negrete failed to negotiate a turn in the road,” an email from police said. The Journey went off the road and hit a tree.
Backseat passenger Christopher Tirado of Bradenton died at the scene. Negrete and a female passenger were both taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Charges in the crash had been pending toxicology and DNA results from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s laboratory, the police department said. Negrete’s blood alcohol levels came back at 0.116 and 0.117, the police department reported on July 5.
Negrete now faces DUI manslaughter, DUI with serious bodily injury, no driver’s license in a fatal crash and no driver’s license in a serious injury crash. She also faces three counts of DUI property damage.

Negrete’s bond was set at $115,000. She was booked into and later bonded out of the Sarasota County Jail.
